Do not drive when you are feeling fatigued. This is dangerous behavior anytime of year, but greatly increases risk during the winter.
Make sure that your tires are properly inflated.
If possible, avoid using your parking brake in cold, rainy and snowy weather.
ALWAYS use your seat belt.
Use your headlights.
Check your battery, tire tread, and windshield wipers, keep your windows clear, put no-freeze fluid in the washer reservoir, and check your antifreeze.
Brake gently to avoid skidding. If you begin to skid make sure you steer into it.
