Safe Driving Tips for Winter

Snow roadWinter has just about arrived! So here are some tips to keep you safe when stuck-in-snow-clipartdriving this season.

Winter Driving:

Do not drive when you are feeling fatigued. This is dangerous behavior anytime of year, but greatly increases risk during the winter.

Make sure that your tires are properly inflated.

If possible, avoid using your parking brake in cold, rainy and snowy weather.

winter14Do not use cruise control while driving on slippery or wet surfaces.

ALWAYS use your seat belt.

Use your headlights.

Check your battery, tire tread, and windshield wipers, keep your windows clear, put no-freeze fluid in the washer reservoir, and check your antifreeze.

Keep a flashlight, jumper cables, shovel, snow brush and ice scraper, warning devices and blankets in your car. For long trips, you should add food and water.winter-driving-guide-photo-247797-s-429x262

Brake gently to avoid skidding. If you begin to skid make sure you steer into it.
